    when trying to gain strength, it is generally advised to stop short of failure, that is how most powerlifters train. When adding size, then go to failure. I personally LIKE going to failure myself, and since my training is purely recreational, that's just what I do.
    You say what about my rice?

    Personally I don't train to failure for the sole reason that it leaves me wiped and affects my martial arts training.
    If I'm taking extended periods off martial arts, then I start training to failure.

    I train to failure, medium weight high reps... i go till my arms, stomach, shoulders, chest, burns and aches... but with that, i make sure i get sufficient rest. that works for me and has done for a few years.

    Training to failure all the time is setting you up for failure.. the body can't take it..
    I competed in powerlifting for about 7yrs, my most gains came from not training as hard as I thought..
    major lifts such as bench, deadlift and squat were done with only 3-5 reps with heavy weights..
    12-15 reps on all assistance...
    but this has nothing to do with explosiveness...
    adding a pause into your lifting will add explosiveness in all areas you encounter..
    lets say bench.. bring the bar down to your chest.. count 1 alligaor and then explode the bar up.. drop it as fast as it went up.. repeat for 10...
    but you can only do it like every 4th workout
    The stress it puts on the body will get you into an over training mode quicker than you think.

    to be more explosive for MA, train MA, relaxation and your chi...
    I added chi in my weight training and my deadlift went up over 50Lbs in 12 weeks..

    WTF? I added chi to my diet, now I fart more. What's up with that? Anyone have that problem?


    I like to train to failure every once in a while. The ecstasy of pain and exertion is extremely enjoyable.
