    Russian TMA

"Hello." Now that's out the way, I'm interested in the loopy way eastern Europeans box ("casting hooks" etc.) and having watched some of the "Russian All-round Fighting" guys' videos I get the impression that the traditional style from that area is linked with their current style of boxing. Since the R A F guys seem to be Nazis and I don't really want to support them, do you guys know of any other sources (specifically not systema) that I could try? I know Scott Sonnon's a fraud, but does his material on this subject hold any merit?

Thanks a lot. That's the sort of thing I was looking for, but with it all looking kind of bizarre it's difficult to know when to take it seriously. The videos I saw before were these guys: http://www.youtube.com/user/raf3548
Do you have any experience in this area?

Are we talking about Russian Army Fighting a.k.a. the Russian version of Kudo?

Could you please elaborate more on them being Nazi's? I saw there competitions and it seemed a quit big federation.

    No, "Russian All-round Fighting"
    http://www.rusbm.ru/ or http://www.rusbm.ru/eng/

Nazi is not strictly the right word, but they did used to talk about white supremacy on their website, their logo just happens to be made from two swastikas, and part of their training involves worshipping Slavic gods.

I am interested in the eastern European striking style, which I doubt has much of a role in Russian Judo. Thanks anyway.

It's a more stand-up fighting style coming from SAMBO and resembling Kudo (Daido Juku)

What an exciting (and I dare say practical) style/sport! I've been looking for something like this since I first decided UFC was boring after ~ number 10.

In the former USSR in the non-russian countries (at least 10 of them) you will frequently find that russians are being accused of racism and supremacism. That tendency is definitely present in all aspects of their lives not to exclude russian martial arts.
    So your "feeling" is correct.
IMO in the last video you can see that aspect easily if you understood their comments. The blue fighter is russian while the red fighter is mongolian, the referies are defintely biased in favor of the russian fighter.

Besides the political aspect, as a martial art, Russian combat (or sport) Sambo is an extremely efficient and well-rounded martial art and is quite succesfull when used in MMA competitions, but you would have to travel a lot and spend a lot of money to be able to learn it properly.
