9 Years? Where have you all been?

9 years ago, I was learning arrangements from an old guy who played in the subway. Honkey Tonk, Round Midnight, Besame Mucho, Rainy Night in Georgia, and other stuff.

I was also studying the jazz handbook from Mt. Hood Community College's jazz program (in Portland Oregon, actually a very very good program), and charting EVERYTHING, learning about modes, and having my sis help me understand the math behind frequencies and things musical (she was finishing her phd at MIT, around that time, and her chalkboard equations were cartoony, a breeze to help me w/ my physics and psychophysics of music book,part of the Berklee curriculum) and stuff like that.

I was producing hip hop, recording neo-soul, playing in a dancehall reggae outfit, and had just started a side reggae band. Had NO money (some things never change), and was dying to gig more.

At Uni and still undecided about what to do with my life and hearing about BJJ in Oslo for the first time but dragging my heels for a whole 'nother year before joining. And that was after having followed NHB since -96 on VHS. :)

Good god I'd just joined the Jitsu Foundation wanting to become a black belt, I had never heard of this forum. All my legs and joints functioned properly too.
