Only Native Californians describe moving closer to someone, crossing your arms and staring at someone as "passive." More fights have started in NYC over unwanted eye contact than any other offensive action. Hence the prevalence of the statement "what da **** are you lookin at" preceding 70% of altercations on mass transit.

This seems to be a problem with NYC (and many parts of the Northeast in general).

So what if the old lady was singing?

The guy in the leather jacket is a coward, not only for sucker punching the youg guy, but also for trying to intimidate a mentally ill person who clearly could not defend herself

The young guy was acting as I would in the same circumstances, ie, defending a vulnerable older person from an agressive bully, at personal risk to himself. Had he not been distracted by pink hat woman and caught the sucker punch, who knows how it would have ended up. As has been stated he did well to take the smack in the head and not just fall over

Kudos to mountain man also for intervening

Remember one day we will all be old and mad (some sooner than others)
There but for the grace of god go I

I don't make excuses for what BJJ lacks as a martial art. I accept them. So when some yahoo on the net makes a valid point about BJJ's shortcomings, I don't feel the need to defend it.

Except nobody has made any valid points so far. I'm not apologizing for anything.
