I stand corrected, but nonetheless, so does everybody else. The facts of the matter still apply, regardless on what channel the show was hosted.

I appreciate you jumping in to take the time to search that one out. Kudos.

    my injuries list is short.....zero

I have had no injuries in the collective few years i have been doing Judo.....i wouldn't consider friction burns, bloody lips proper injuries as i can still do some Judo or lifting with them....

Ukemi is clutch as many have pointed out as well as skill of one's tori...

AFA weights and Judo....i think it has helped improve my Judo and has helped to injury proof me to some degree...neck work, power cleans and SQ have been the most useful exercises for me to hit up.

I've only had mat burn on my feets but I guess I've been doing it wrong.

Two really valuable lessons I learned from Miguel were:
    1. Use your head. Literally. When attacking someone with a double-leg take down he would grab both legs but he would also smack into the opponent's chest with his head. He figured for a guy his weight the head was at least 15 pounds and having the force of a thrown bowling ball smacking into your chest could only help off-balance you and send you in the direction of the throw. Miguel would come off the mat with mat burn all over his face because he used his head as an extra appendage to hold you down and to block in matwork. Pretty soon, I, too, came of the mat looking like I had wiped out on my bike and hit the pavement with my face. The other thing I had in common with Miguel is that I won.

So, exactly how do ankle weights strengthen you ankles? Inquiring minds want to know! And exactly which type of injury will that help to reduce?
    Falling for Judo since 1980

Yes, your head is a fifth limb, use it as such.

The scrapes go away eventually anyway...
