I don't see the competitve or artistic value in encouraging fighters to use a technique that's only merit is to cause injury.

You mean like a punch to the face or or an armbar or a knee or a kick or a throw or a choke or anything really.

I think he means an injury designed for a doctor stoppage vs actually finishing your opponent. A cut eyebrow is hardly in the same injury category as a KO or broken/dislocated limb.
