Honestly I thought it was quite redic- the bad guys were not at all believable, totally over the top and I really don't know what their motivation was supposed to be. :/

If someone ever kills me in a match, I'm just going to lay there and do one of those awkward silence things.

It was pretty well documented that Paret had been taunting Griffiths in this manner since their prior fight. Considering that Griffiths probably was closeted, the already potent insult would have been even more intense.

That'll teach 'em, nothing says revenge better than the old silent treatment.

Ip man was generic tosh so I suppose by the laws of diminishing returns I should have expected the the sequel to be even worse.
Your review has saved me from 90+ mins of kung fu hokum, thank you.

Good post from Phil re Paret v Griffiths.

Paret had previously taken a beating from (MW) Gene Fullmer and this might well have been a factor.

Paret is said to have touched Griffith's backside and called him "maricon" at the weigh-in. At that point, Emile's trainer, Gil Clancy told him to save it for the Ring. The Ref, Ruby Goldstein (The Jewel of the Ghetto) never refereered again.

Ray Mancini has been mentioned, so here's a few more.

Sugar Ray Robinson. Judge, "Did you mean to harm him?" Ray, "Your Honor, that's what I'm paid to do".
    Barry McGuigan
    Joe Bugner
    Max Baer.
Primo Carnera (against Earnie Schaaf, who had sustained a beating from Baer)
    Alan Minter

Terry Parker, 10th Dan Ju Jitsu. In reply to that question, his reply "I've killed thousands, I worked for a cigarette company".
