I hope so. As I said, Avengers better be good.
As I said, I think the movie was entertaining, but thinking of how much more could have been done with the topic, makes me think of how far I am really removed from the blockbuster culture that seems to aim at thirteen-year-olds alone these days.
For the future, I would wish for a wave of less funky, and more adult-oriented entertainment. - Like another Thomas Jane Punisher, a Conan movie whose trailer doesn't come with Linkin Park music, or heeeeeeeeeeeeeeell, that they let Kerry Conran out of his cave, and make more movies. What he would have done with Captain America, it would have been the movie of the decade! -

Kerry Conran? The world is not ready for steampunk Captain America. No, I'll take safe bland, "I'll get another CA" movie over a hit or miss "we must reboot."

Yeah, I know, but it would have been so much more indepted to the 70 years of tradition,
and just not a somewhat loveless and run-of-the-mill franchise movie.
But then again, it's not like the movie was bad -
but that doesn't mean it's specifically good, though. Lamentably.
I am thrilled about the Winter Soldier option, though. -

I would have liked the film to end the with the scene from the Ultimate Avengers (paraphrasing here as I don't have the GN before me), when Cap accuses Colonel Nick Fury of being a plant and fighting with him before he accepts it and breaks down crying.
They wouldn't, as it has racist overtures, but it is a still a powerful scene.

Conran reminds me of someone like Kurt Wimmer or Christophe Gans in as much as they are a little too "visionary" for the general public.....Conran would have probably done a good job with Cap, however Johnson was probably a "safer" choice.
Sky Captain = The Rocketeer
Then with Conran...you gots nothing. At least with Johnson you have a track record with Jumanji, Jurassic Park III and (while not financial successes) Hidalgo and Wolfman. Guy showed he could deliver a big-budget film.
Pre-Iron Man...they were more lenient with directors. Granted, Raimi and Story and Del Torro are *names*, but they aren't safe bets for superheroes. Post Favereau Iron Man, Marvel seems less likely take chances.
