I've looked over a few pages of this thread, and just kind of feel sad. Many of the main combatants are pretty decently ranked Judoka, and yet everyone's fighting so viciously, without quarter. I can hardly speak for the dead, but I have a feeling that Kano would have disapproved. Please, keep it respectful.

Then again, maybe my lack of mat time invalidates any opinion I have concerning civility. *sigh*

When I've asked in the past why certain techniques are no longer allowed, the answer has been a sullen "because they work too well".

Kano would be disgusted anyway, the beurocracy is just the icing on the cake.

Every technique? Dunno. From my readings, he removed all the striking, knee/shoulder/spine attacks, etc. though, for safety purposes. If they could be safely practiced, he'd have incorporated them. That's why some of it's in the kata.

Kano removed the `dangerous` techniques from jujitsu so that it could be practiced at full speed with maximum resistance.
