    Hi

Hi, making my introductions in newbietown.

From Australia, 10 years ago I practised kyokushin Karate, got graded to 3rd kyu (blue). Unfortunately had to stop because my parents couldn't take me to class any more. Looking to get back into martial arts again.

Thinking of picking up judo and a form of karate.

    Nice to meet you's.

    Mrli

    Hi Mr Li :D
I live in Australia too! Great to see new members from Australia. Which state do you live in? There are a few of us here and hopefully someone in your area!

    Hi and welcome :)

Are you considering going back to kyokushin or are you considering something else?

Hi Ken thanks for the welcome

Since I've only practised kyokushin I don't know what other style of karate offers. I am not after a style that allows me to win a fight on the streets. I am after a style that trains body and mind (discipline, hard work), something for me to stay (er, get back into) shape and have fun while doing it. Maybe some competition. And oh I don't mind katas. I want something traditional i spose.

I've tried a few karate styles and tbh Shotokan has always been my favorite - it's traditional, you'll have the opportunities for competition if you want and it has katas :)

    thanks for that Ken

Just need to find the right dojo. I read the article here about choosing the right one, and already I ruled out so many in my area because of their business practises.

Going from Kyokushin to Shotokan is like going from Motorcycles back down to push-bikes.

If you want to stick with a Karate style, go back to the Kyokushin.
