Bullshido in the marines?

So recently i went to a marine recruiter, and the gentleman and i were talking about the martial arts.

As soon as he said this, i sighed beyond belief. I know first hand the MCMAP system is for rizzle, but i mean, ok, i'll quote

but he was on the marine corps tae kwon do team...and while A.T.A tkd may be useless in the for rizzle life, i think they probably do an adequate job of teaching you how to point-spar effectivle

Is there any redeeming qualities about this recruiter? Is kogu-ryu ninjitsu somehow more...effective then all other shitty forms of ninjitsu?

IS BDFS actually anything that is worth being a part of?

Is this whole thing a shitload of fucking bullshido this unfortunate guy has bought into? (I know he could still kick my ass, he has that mcmap training under his black belt...yes, mcmap has a belt ranking system)

Dude, the military is not immune from bullshit ideas of grandeur when it comes to martial arts. I've heard more bullshit out of soldiers' mouths half the time than from civilians. I wouldn't worry about MA stories from a recruiter.

it just sort of made me question everything, you know? I mean, my dad was a marine, i've known alot of marines, and i'm not saying this guy was a ***** or anything like that, but i tend to instantly dislike anyone who believes in and spews such bullshit.

Hence why i dislike scientologits OT-III and above.

But still, it sort of offended me, that he tried talking to me as if we were equals, about martial arts.

I had to bite my lip to keep from saying **** arm-bars, dim mak was where it is at...

but, he had an amazing RNC...

I'm actually thinking about joining though, but i'm not sure.

Joining the military was probably the dumbest and smartest thing I ever did if that makes sense. If you do join the correct answer is military intelligence.

I'm thinking about it for a few reasons...

one, i have no clue what i awnt to do with my life. This seems like something that i cna do to buy myself some time, while earning money, and doing something useful...hell, maybe find a career.

two, college, man. I'm broke, don't feel like taking out loans. I'm good at two things..music and martial arts. Not good enough at music to get a scholarship there, and doubt i'm good enough at martial arts to get a scholarship, if they even exist.

I'm thinking maybe air force, due to better conditions and what not...I don't know, though...

I had some strange hope of going in to the marines, learning the mcmap system, then becoming an instructor.

that seems quite unlikely, though.

The problem with me joining the military, is that i don't know what i'd want to do there, either.

And i'm too...smart for infantry, as the recruiter put it (no offense to any infantry guys in here...but the recruiter said i got some ridiculously high score on some ridiculous test or something, and that they wouldn't put me in infantry)

Can't speak for the Marines, but in the Army being a H2H instructor is just an adjunct to your regular MOS.

The military is a great option. Just be cognizant of where you'll most likely end up. With high scores, look at intel. Do your homework on what's out there and choose what you think is the best fit. The Army can guarantee you an MOS if you can get it in your contract. If you're good with languages, talk to me or Cassius, that's kind of our lane.

haha i'm good with english, and thats about it.

I'm not feeling army...something tells me i'll get my ass shipped to iraq and be there for a while. Marines are only there for 7 months...

I don't know, what is an H2H instructor?

First thing you should know is that it's spelled with a "M" and not an, "m."

Marines.

If you go to boot camp and start with the lower case "m" thing, you're asking for a world of hurt.

I kind of agree with the others. There are bullshit experts all over and the Corps is not exempt from this. The recruiter is going to try to connect with you at some level to get you to sign papers. He'll try to connect with you about martial arts, the next kid about chicks he banged in Oki, and the next about astronomy or some crap. Recruiters are there to recruit people. They do what they need to do to get the job done.

I've got no knowledge of the MCMAP. I was in back when LINE was the word.
