I've trained with Gary for only 1 year. I came across this forum by typing "Gary Martin Kung Fu" in google, because i have not seen the website. It was the 3rd link down so i think that justifies my reason for coming across this thread by accident.

I am in the beginners class, but have seen multiple people from different styles with many years experience under their belt arrogantly and respectfully visiting our training and taking part in sparring because they want to know if it is BS martial arts, or not, just like you.

One guy claimed he was a Blackbelt (can't remember what degree) and had 20 years of experience in karate. He asked Gary if he could train in the advanced class thinking he was top ****, so he was given a Red Sash (grade after black and before gold sash[sifu level, i believe]) to train with. When It came to simulating scenario's of defending yourself from various attacks, it looked like full contact sparring to me, with no pulled back or missing strikes. But most if not all of the time the karate guy got owned.

But everything you read on this forum is not a primary source. It is secondary. So if you want to know something, go and find out these questions your self from Gary by calling him or going to our training.

Can you please inform us who awarded Gary Martian his 10 Level Gold Sash. I would be most interested (as would others) in hearing of this.

Since you all wonder about lineage, I can vaguely recall Gary talking about it once or twice. This is when he has a little talk about the schools history. I did not pay too much attention to it because I find that what i'm learning has very real practical application to defending yourself from an attack, physically but most importantly, psychologically(avoid being in confrontation).

This is a summary of his history(but do NOT quote me word for word because this is a general description to nullify claims, "there is no lineage"): Two sons from a well renown internal kung fu master in China (can't remember the name but I will find out if i can be bothered) immigrated due to the civil war. One of the sons moved to Malaysia and the other to Australia. The son living in Australia met Gary's grandfather due to a mutual friend. Gary's grandfather had tuberculosis and was referred to the internal kung fu practitioner for healing and learning the internal arts. Gary was taught the arts from the age of 4, and was given permission by his grandfather to teach in 1979. Skipping a few years... he got his Grand Master level grading in 2006 at the school of the brother who moved from China to Malaysia. The name of this school I have forgotten but will find out.

No they wouldn't, but anyone can do this, it's no substitute for having skill in the departments of striking or grappling. A thai fighter would be happy to kick you in the balls all day but he doesn't need to train it. Just stop assuming everyone else cant grab your balls and rake your eyes.

We train to get out of confrontations ASAP. As soon as we are attacked we strike back and get to safety depending on the scenario. The difference between the thai fighter trying to pick on me is that getting kicked in the balls or raked in the eyes would be one of the last weapons he would use in his arsenal of strikes and clenches, whereas I would keep it in the FORFRONT of my arsenal of strikes to avoid any more injury to myself or the thai fighter for example. When it comes to defending a loved one, then thats the only time I would stick around to absolutely demolish the opponent(s) with any means possible, traditionally and instinctively.

After reading the whole thread I still can't be certain 100% that they are the same person, but I find it remarkable (and unlikely) that there would be two sifu named Gary from Australia with similar habits of selling such kung fu horse hockey. The Gary from Australia I am thinking about got booted off the KFO forum (which is an achievment! no one gets banned there!)

I have to see if I can find the old post confirming this, but on KFO online it came out that a BJJ white belt had come in, taken him down and choked him out. If it IS the same Gary, wow....

please head to your local muay thai or mma gym and try out a few rounds of sparring, you'll quickly see if what you have been learning is worth the time... plenty of great mma clubs in sydney

I say "looked like" because it was not me, I was not the one sparring. But yes, there was no protective gear. Why rage for?

My mate goes to TAIPAN in eastern sydney so i'll check it out as well as SINOSIC-PEROSH and FULL FORCE GYM in the west. Have you studied any internal kung fu? Most likely not. i train at sinosic-perosh, will be happy to spar with you. any degree of contact you're happy with.

i'm a really nice guy, you can trust that i won't do anything stupid or act like a macho arsehole. if you have a location in sydney i'll be happy to travel there. we can film it if you like or not.
