spinning guard pass aka roll to half boston crab

A while ago I was looking at "Gokor Chivichyan: Leglock Encyclopedia" and in the beginning of the third DVD Gokor shows a guard pass that was, a least to me, very unorthodox.

So while he was in the other person his closed guard he basically stepped over the other person which caused him to spin over and hend up in some kind of reversed mount or a half Boston crab as he called it from where he finished with a series of legglocks.

I have searched for similar guard passes since and the only other and the following clip is the only other resource I have found.

In this video he immediately takes the back instead of finishing with a legglock.

When I first saw the move I seemed kind of a gimmick and a low percentage move but I have tried just for the fun of it and I have, to my surprise, been successful with it against upper white belts and blue belts.

But I still feel as if it isn't a totally legit guard pass especially since I couldn't find a lot of people doing it which is in a lot of cases not a good sign.

So I was wondering if this pass is legit ,if anybody has any experience with this pass and could tell me if it is worth any drill time.

I was also wondering if anybody knows this pass under any other name.

Excuse my bad English please, I'm not a native speaker.

Note: I wasn't really sure which forum to post this under because I don't consider it a basic technique and I think my post is to low content and not advanced enough to be in the grappling forum.
Since I have been a cowardly lurker until now and this is my first thread the newbieforum seemed appropriate.

I've never been taught/seen it before. I'll put it past my Jits instructor tomorrow and Judo instructor on thursday and see what they think, I'll give it a go myself tomorrow and let you know how it fares.

I do this for fun on a lazy open guard, typically ending with a back-take.

I believe that Omega teaches this pass. It's legitimate.

If I recall correctly, it's actually the opening gambit of "The Top" armbar setup. From Omega's montage vid.

Actually we call it a superman guard pass. I believe I've shown it several times. I'll see what I can come up with.

Hmm that's actually really cool, I'll work it between this http://www.lockflow.com/grappling-te...g-lock-entries

which has just started to get me all hot and bothered (19 new blue belts just moved up; my legs, they are).
Daniel: I don't know if I know enough karate.

    Miyagi: Feeling correct.

Daniel: You sure know how to make a guy feel confident.

Miyagi: You trust the quality of what you know, not quantity.

No fair thats before I knew how to grapple at all! Note the Thai ankle supports. I use this pass but it is pretty hard to set up unless the person on bottom is being lazy.
