Watched this video a few times this morning and decided to try it at No-Gi. I actually jumped it off on the first try and though it was a bit sloppy compared to the demo it worked as advertised; guard to side control. I am certain that if I can drill this a bit with someone I can really get it down. Thanks.

I use a similar move to escape triangles. What do you think of that Omega-san? I think it was in a GSP instructional at one point.

Does it matter which way your opponents ankles are hooked when you try this? I was working it last night and kept having to reset because my opponents guard didn't break open.
In retrospect it seems like if I had spun the other direction based on how his ankles were crossed it would have opened up properly...

I use a similar one but I go the other way. I also don't step over as much as drive.
It's not so much the spin as much as driving in on your opponent. If he holds on with his legs and rolls with you, you simply lock his legs a la the other fore mentioned video. So in other words, no, it does not matter. -
