I've used this pass ever since you showed me. It doesn't always get me the pass but when I don't I usually in place for a leg submission.

Yes we did, we were trying to ignore it.

thanks for the vid Omega! I try to use it as a "wtf" move but i mostly do Gi so I rarely get the opportunity. This really clarified a lot of points cuz I was kinda just "cartwheeling" around

Aw, well I tried it on two blue belts it worked. Except I ended up in a leglock position like the second variation more than not. I made sure that I had good posture and their grips were broken first. It's definitely harder in gi though.
