Atomicpoet, how in the hell is a 1994 era UFC supposed to get fighters that aren't obscure while still including a variety of martial arts? To 1994 Joe Schmoe, muay thai, jiujitsu, savate, sambo and sumo are all obscure. What savate champ could they possibly pick that wasn't obscure? Can you think of one off the top of your head?

The problem is he is shifting his requirements all over the place. I could understand if he would just come out and say it should have been Rob Kaman vs Bart Vale instead of Gerard vs Tuli, but that would only have mattered to people that followed martial arts. The average person didn't know about any combat athletes that weren't in the movies.

I'm tapping out. My original off the cuff remark has been misinterpreted as me slagging early UFC.

The truth is, apart from a few duds, most of them were pretty entertaining. Watching Tank Abbott bulldoze his opponents is probably my favourite part of early UFC.

Me do. James Warring vs. Erik Paulson was also good, and was the first fight between a boxer and an mixed martial artist where both fighters once held significant titles in their respective sports.
