@ Warchief - thanks
Need to get the girl a blue gi ASAP.
Didn't get her birth certificate FAXed in time yesterday and have to before she can be entered. Must do Monday as online registration is during working hours only.
Looking forward to this one as she always has to go up in weight or do demos. Kid has never wanted to medal for uncontested. At 15 and 85lbs, there's been no competition at her weight/age bracket for most Oklahoma tournaments.
judoka_uk and Ben - rant as you will. All comments welcomed. -

Junior Olympics is what USA Judo calls it's Junior National Championships. My only objection is that they have it for really young kids (born 2005). It's necessary to have it for the IJF Junior and the Cadet (-17) divisons. I can tolerate national championships for kids older than 9, think that -13 is probably as young as they should be run, even better -15, 17, and -20 only.
But, the tournament would not make anyone any money if they ran it the way I would like to see from a developmental standpoint. They bid these things out, and the people who put it on expect to make a profit.

I'm sure you enjoyed the visit and discussions. I'm looking forward to your visitors getting back down here. We miss them. Rumor has it you may be coming down this way for a visit. I hope that works out. I'd like you to see our new dojo and meet the crew. Hopefully, John will finish his vocab review and I can get him tested for Shodan. Stay safe and give a shout if I can do anything for you. Roy
