    Hell yeah! Hell no!

rear naked choke left and right?

Should I be just as proficient sinking a rear naked left handed as I am right handed? is it important? It feels so good right handed. ha. Thanks

It pays to be proficient at both, but if you like a side, you'll tend to stick to a side. Its situational though.

ok I'll work on it. Can't hurt. We were doing some standing headlock escapes where I end up putting my opponent in a rear naked and another student said to use my left since I escaped from his left. It was just as easy to use my right. He doesn't know anything more than me so I wanted to see if I could just use my stronger arm if it's there.

The part about it being situational is true. It's going to have a lot more to do with the way they are trying to defend it, as you should be going for the under/over on the side that they expose their armpit, imo.

If you are flat on your back with your opponent back mounted on top of you you need to be able to pull them into "the pocket" on either side. Otherwise when they go away from the choke you have no recourse.

"the pocket" means the arm on bottom that is across their neck.

6:15 in this video shows what I'm talking about with the pocket.
