Free Weights in europe

So i just moved to finland and i couldnt bring my old free wights with me.Ive been checking some of the prizes around the local stores and they seem to be very expensive to say the least.
For example the cheapest ive been able to find is 490 euros for a 300 pound olympic bar set, add a squat rack (or power cage),plus a set of dumbells and that will exceed over 1000 euros thats a bit much from what im used to paying.

so any advice on where to get cheap equipment in north europe?

at the moment im thinking amazon could be my best bet

Drive over the border to Russia, everything is expensive in Finland.

Yeah no kidding 3 freaking euros fo an avocado is no joke.

May have to ask the in laws for a ride (sadly i cannot drive). thats mostly why i was looking for online stuff or local stuff but i see that may not be an option unless im willing to pay serious cash .

Craiglist usually has good deals on used free weights and exercise equipment. Weights don't really degrade so a used set is as good as new set.

If not, your local hardware store usually has heavy objects that can be assembled into exercise equipment.

1€ is about $1.45 now. judoka_uk has teh correct, everything is expensive here. Well, except BJJ before USD hit the dirt.. again.

Gym equipment costs shitloads here. One of the biggest reason is there is very little market for that eq around here. Typically what people do is buy a gym membership. You can get pretty cheap ones from non-franchises and swimming halls (I pay 170e/6 months for mine).

If you're still after the equipment I guess you could check out huuto.net, it's the local equivalent of ebay. Don't know about how much gym equipment can be found from there, though. If you live in southern Finland Estonia might be a good choice, since they are in ETA nowadays and you shouldn't have to pay tolls if you bring stuff in personally. I'd double check though.

AFAIK Craigslist is hardly used around here, and paying for delivery of stuff that weighs >300 pounds might make even a cheap deal more expensive than buying local.

BTW looking at huuto.net there's a body solid power rack going for 180€ or 250€ buy now there. Starting price is less than half of the original price. Fetch yourself only though and in Oulu region. But just goes to prove that you can find this stuff used from there.

thanks a lot for the website hpr just browsing a few minutes there and i found a set of weights (120kg), and that power rack you metioned, over all it will be under 500 euros cant beat that (atlest not in finland).

on a side note
hpr just curious but are you in the Alliance bjj club in helsinki?

I'm not sure if HJJK really has any affiliates right now, but that's where I train when I do BJJ, which is pretty much never lately due to injuries and lack of time.
