My wife is petite. 5'4". She can be pretty viciouse when the mood takes her! :)

What sm/all women have on there side is the ellement of surprise. An attacker will target someone they deem to be weak/unable to defend themselves. A small woman that does any decent MA is better off than one who does not

IMO a small woman, stuck in a situation where escape is not an option should, where possible, go for the groin strike.
Pretend to be all "I am all scared and weak please dont hurt me..." BAM! Good, hard front kick (or knee) to the pubic bone. This should give woman time to get to safety and/or follow up with some equally nasty, painful and damageing strike to render attacker inopperative. I dont know any man who can take a nut shot! But maybe I just hang out with pussies ;)

If on the ground, thumb strike to eyes at the earliest possibility

A missed nut shot results in an angrier rapist.

    Good point,
But any attempt to protct herself that fails will also piss rapist off

Practice nut shot often, become very good at kicking/kneeing groin or delivering thumb strikes

If these women trained for three or four years in a combat sport would they be better able to defend themselves at that point? Of course they would. There's your answer.

Smaller and weaker people will benefit from combat sport training just like larger and stronger people. It typically just takes a bit longer for them acquire effective skills as their margins for technique error are considerably smaller than a 250 lb. meathead.

Size matters. If I were tiny I would learn weapons. Hell, I have some passing familiarity with them anyway. I just don't think grappling is for tiny people. But then again, grappling isn't really for me either.

No, grappling is especially necessary for tiny people because they're the ones most likely to end up on the ground in a fight. They really need to know how to fight from there and get back up on their feet ASAP.

    Escaping is not grappling.

And why is it that small people are more likely to end up on the ground? Says who?
