How do I get past kicksAnybody got any tips for getting past kicks. Im more of an infighter.

This is an honest question:
How do you know you are more of an in-fighter if you don't know how to get past kicks?
Do you think you are an in-fighter because of drills you've done?
Or is it from sparring experience?

shin check/counter for low roundhouse kicks, or diagonal-step-in/counter.
circle away from their power, and learn to catch kicks. move away from the blow a little, block, and trap. From there, you can kick their supporting leg out, punch with one hand while holding with the other arm, or post-trapping...grab behind their neck, and throw knees from the resulting thai clinch. Their being on one leg, helps you get the neck with your free arm, once you have the trap.
You can catch the kick with one arm, but you risk getting hit, as you catch it. If you're going to try that, it's a good idea to move diagonally toward the opponent, away from the kick, to reduce the impact. It's not good catching a rib kick, as it's kicking your ribs full power.
It's a good idea to use one arm to block, and then trap it with the other. Depends on how hard, the kicks are, that are coming at you.
For teeps or stamp kicks, snap kicks etc. (Linear kicks coming right at you), you can circle away from their good side, or diagonally in, to capitalize on their momentary loss of balance
You can learn to catch the kick, as you angle in, to help deliver more telling counters, or enact throws, takedowns, or clinches.
When kicking hard, lots of people count on the kick landing, for balance. To avoid this, learn to spin around if you miss. Keep your hands up, and your elbows somewhat in, as you spin, so you're not too vulnerable to counters, if they jump back, and in quickly, when you miss.
If you're being kicked, moving in and out, just out of range, can provoke them to throw the kicks too soon, and offer you opportunities for counters.
Some people, in sparring, upon missing the kick, throw a backfist, as they spin around, just in case the other is coming in to take advantage of the miss. One of my good friends had this happen to him, in one of his fights, IIRC It knocked him down, and he got a standing 8 count.

Funny thing is, when we get really hammered, we find out Lenny's got a dome of iron, and can throw headbutts all night. Afros, and longhair cushion too much. I cupcheck Len at every opportunity, make him do a revolution on the floor. Good tymes.Spoiler:

Getting past kicks is much the same as getting past any other technique. Basically, you have to drill against opponents throwing kicks at minimum till you're at a level where you can recognize kicks early, and anticipate a reaction. As for specific techniques... there are many, and no technique has the monopoly on being t3h c0rr3ct. Low kicks, mid kicks, and high kicks all can be dealt with differently, as can thrust kicks and roundhouses. Find a kicker, train with him.
