What can you learn in an hour of Aikido?

The aforementioned LEO probably did boxing when he was younger because he constantly kept falling back on some very strong and technical boxing instead of his 1 hour of Aikido when his partner was hammering away at him.

I could only imagine someone whose only combat training was 1 hr. of Aikido trying to fend off someone trying to practice Sanshou/Krav Maga/Muay Thai/Kickboxing on them.

In one hour, you can learn the basics of rolling. Keep training on your own after that one hour, and you will most likely pick up a skill you will use more than any hand to hand skills you could learn in an unlimited amount of time training in any art. At least, this has been my experience. Breaking falls via rolling has prevented more injuries than anything else I've learned.

Kickboxing clearly doesn't belong because only faggots practice kickboxing.

Who was it? (a pm if you prefer). If it's a 6th dan there's a decent chance I know them (or at least know of them).

For the op, the more I think about it, the more that katagatame sounds like the best an Leo would get out of that session. it's straightforward enough that he'd probably get it as good in an hour as it'll ever get.

His boxing background probably means he could eat a few on the way in, without being stopped by the shock of it. (Using his boxing offensively is going to lead to an intimate relationship with I.A.)

Don't compare the sloppy striking of KM to MT. 99.9% of Krav Schools are useless, and I'm probably being generous here. Don't compare your art to three martial arts that produce some very talented strikers. Unless, I missed the tournament where the elite Krav Maga fighter showed those other guys how real striking is done.

Well if I told you who it was you'd only be a hope skip and a jump away from working out who I am.

It didn't bother us, our coach didn't take part in their session. It was just a bit odd that he chose to sit on the cushion and meditate, I wouldn't have batted an eyelid if he had just gone off and got a cup of tea or whatever.
