Judo vs Wrestling

BELGAUM: The judo and wrestling students of Government Sports School and Hostel near Kolhapur Circle here clashed with each other late on Wednesday night. Five students __ Amrut Paul and Nikhil K S of Mysore, Tilak Kumar T S of Chikmagalur, Sudarshan of Mandya and Nandeesh Baddi of Gokak __ have been injured in the incident.

The clash broke out after a group of wrestling students entered the section of judo students and "allegedly" attacked on them with iron rods and sticks. They have also broken the wooden doors of the hostel room and a toilet to beat those hidden there.

The clash is said to have broken out after some judo students complained to the hostel warden against the wresting students over the use of toilets.

Assuming the report of attacks with "iron rods" is true (a potentially foolhardy assumption), it seems perfectly justifiable to beat someone with a weapon because they complained about your bathroom hygiene.

When the IJF restricted leg grabs, everyone thought wrestlers would be beating Judoka with leg grabs, no one predicted it would be with iron rods.

There was no battle, the judo army was routed.

What on earth could you say about someone using a toilet to warrant this response? Did someone not flush???

There's a lot of deep-seated animosity over bathroom etiquette between wrestlers and Judoka. When my college's Judo club was assigned the same locker room as my wrestling team this past season, it was pretty much an all-out war from the get go. At one point, we dragged one of the Judo guys into the wrestling room to tar and feather him because he left a floor turd in the handicap stall. Then when one of our guys pissed in the sink, the Judoka made him walk naked through the snow in the woods. This conflict eventually culminated into all-out battle in the parking lot that resulted in heavy casualties on both sides. The Judokas weapons of choice were broken bottles and boiling oil, while we had lead pipes and a catapult that shot beehives on our side.

Eventually we decided just to use separate bathrooms. The bitterness quickly eased, and soon we were on good terms. We even joined forces on occasion to beat up on the Taekwondo club.
