    Hell yeah! Hell no!
Sparring hard without shin pads and 16oz gloves on a bi-weekly basis is just stupid and inviting injury. Go elsewhere before your career is cut short.

Seriously, everyone needs to read the Youth MMA page on that website, the last bit down the bottom. Cobra Kai! http://www.leaguelineup.com/miscinfo...a&sid=49773589
Actually that's pretty good for kids to learn as opposed to what I make my kids say.

Sounds to me like he wants his gym to be a small circle of pro and ammy fighters who can spar hard and don't require a lot of instruction. There is nothing wrong with that, but it certainly isn't a place for a beginner to develop a strong foundation.

Look at some other gyms and see if they are a better fit for you.

    Whichever's better.

OP, I personally agree with the general concensus. Sparring is good, but instruction has it's place and if you're not enjoying yourself then you're not learning much anyway.

Find a school that allows you to spar, learn, and have fun.

Nice. To the point, if not a little corny. I like the last two lines especially.
