Wow, that's a shame. Wally Jay's death is a loss indeed.

I had recieved this on the 29th:
Dear William,
I received the following notification from Ernie Boggs, Sensei, and thought I should pass it on to you:
The Great Grandmaster Professor Wally Jay is gone! Around 2:30am May 29, 2011 the martial arts lost one of it's greatest masters of all time as he passed peacefully to the other side. He will be greatly missed by so many around the world, I know I will miss him more than anyone could ever imagaine.
PLEASE allow his family this personal time they need by not calling the home. Information will be posted on www.smallcircle.com and www.Friendsofwallyjay.com
Professor Jay was truly a pillar of the jujitsu and martial arts community throughout the world. I had the pleasure of working with him numerous times over the past three decades. Prof. Jay was a very giving and generous sensei who also continued to grow in the art. He also had a certain charm mixed with a good sense of humor. While the martial arts community will miss Prof Jay we will continue to remember him as we train and gorw in the art and his teachings.

He was an amazing man who accomplished a lot in his lifetime. My fingers have been stretched to the max quite a few times. He left quite a few Soke, Ed Mclaugh being one of my favorite. I feel he should also be noted for his modifications to Judo as well. His small circle theory was applied to Nage-Waza and Kansetsu-Waza quite efficiently. I always enjoyed watching his seminars and interacting with those who have trained under him. Anyone who has experienced a finger lock can clearly see how effective the base, lever, fulcrum principle is. I will sorely miss him, we have lost a modern legend -
