man monson looks like a mess, tattoo wise. im sure a few years back he had none?

what a boring event, substandard fights all round punctuated by the horrible fucking commentators. really, they HAVE to get rid of those guys. the idiot putting on the gravel voice uses compustrike like a samoan mother uses a jug cord on her kids- its both painful and really, should be frowned upon more than it is.

overroids gassed how fast? jesus wept, what a horrible main event. captain butt scoot vs captain steroid abuser for what could have been the ultimate in lay n pray match ups, beaten out only by the previous fights 4 minutes of hip thrusting per round. can they please just hurry and do what they did to WEC, absorb the good fighters into the ufc and ditch the strikeforce brand so i dont have to see valentine tap to strikes again

it was decent not as bad as everyone made it out to be. enjoyed the card very much.

What is it with high level BJJ Blackbelts? Monson you jerk! ..aaagh that really fucked me off.
I'm a big fan of the Snowman, can't believe a guy with that level of ground game would make no effort to take the fight to the ground.

Was'nt a great performance but I'm still backing the Reem to win the Tournament.

"Pulling guard" after eating a big shot looks a whole lot like getting knocked on your ass. You can't expect to win decisions doing that.

you can't get the fight to the ground without a sufficient level of striking and wrestling compared to that of your opponent. if your opponent is on a much higher level in these areas and you can't get the takedown, your options are:

a. do what werdum did and pull guard

b. do what monson did and get your face caved in

doesn't matter how good you are on the ground if you can't get there.

All true, Cormier obviously has great wrestling skills but Monson barely even attempted a commited takedown.

pretty sure monson told his corner that he couldn't take him down.

my guess is that if he really started attempting a lot of takedowns, he would have lost even faster. he couldn't close the distance, he couldn't set up his takedowns with strikes. we'd have seen one failed takedown after another.

i'm telling you, cormier is a black fedor. i know that one of the commentators said that he had a similar build to fedor, but before then i was thinking about how similar his movement is, his efficiency, power and control.

i wouldn't go so far as to say he'll be as good as fedor, but i just see a similarity.

and i might be talking out of my arse now, but matt mitrione is another one. he reminds of of fedor and i can't help it. i also think mitrione is very underrated.

EDIT - but i should say, i think cormier is going to do very well in the future.
