About the animal styles. If God wanted you to fight like a tiger or whatever, he would have made you a tiger.

Judo, Muay Thai and Kyokushin are all traditional styles. You don't have to have an instructor who talks in metaphors about life and some pseudo connections to Asian culture to be traditional.

At their most traditional, martial arts are about hurting people. Those arts have remained true to themselves by beating the piss out of each other.

Take Muay Thai

In times past, fighters and warriors may have taken inspiration from animals. They didnt on the other hand say "I know, why dont we fight like the chicken, the chicken is clearly superior"

They may have admired the chickens energy, its ability to strike at awkward angles and its delicious meat.

They did not, on the other hand, attempt to be the chicken, because that is retarded.

They seemed to understand, that they were not a chicken, they were a human. They had no feathers, or tail, and they tasted terrible when fried in batter. Thus, they invented a style suited to a human.

My experience with fighting uechi guys is every time they try and do that parry and pass/circle block nonsense, they leave half of their face unguarded. And then get punched in it.

As forms, not my place to comment, but the CMA consensus points towards it being sloppy.

Hua Quan, Cha Quan, Nan Quan/South Style.

and san shou

but i really wanted to learn those five ancient animals. but if its a bad school its a bad school

Do your animal forms, then go to san shou and see if you can work them in. I honestly mean that. If you can do it, i shall happily bow to you.

WTF is dragon form? How can you fight like an animal that doesn't even exist? You can't even breathe fire!

If you want to learn the best animal style, then I would suggest Honey Badger form.
