Meh, just get something you're likely to use in real life, like an AR, AK 47, etc.

I didn't get it, just loaded up on a bunch of gear through Amazon :-\
Tactical foregrip
Red dot sight
Small rail mounted light for my pistol
Off-set flash light mount
Single point sling
Plus some extra batteries, speed loader and a propane adapter. All told, I just spent $200.00 on accessories, so no new weapon. If I did, really it should be a shotgun, but sadly there just aren't many airsoft shotguns out there, or good ones anyways. -

Just some words of experience on gas powered blow back systems.
Unless you're buying top end such as Inokatsu, the internals will be cast 'pot metal' and will eventually break, the charging handle will snap at the point where it engages the bolt carrier.
The magazines will leak, unless you're paying around $60 each, and even then you're entering a lottery of quality control.
When I bought my M4 GBBR I replaced all the internals at an additional cost, replaced the charging handle with a real one (required a little DIY to fit)
I bought Magpul PTS magazines which were by far less problematic, but still leaked a little.
DO NOT DROP A GAS MAGAZINE. I watched a young lad try to emulate a tactical reload and in doing so he thought it would be cool to release a partly gas filled magazine straight on to a concrete floor - It vented rapidly with a high pressure jet of propane which would have easily injured himself or someone else.
If you're actually intending shooting the rifle, you're going to endlessly **** about with the zero, you will never gain consistent FPS regardless of what the manufacturer claims, this and the sometimes dire repeatability of the accuracy will be a royal pain in the arse.
Feel free to fire any questions you might have

Yeah, as I take the rifle apart I notice that even though it was expensive, it's basically cheap, and quite fragile compared to a real firearm. I'm not too happy about that, but what can you do? At least I have something similar to a real rifle to train with.
EDIT: Yesterday I bought a rail mounted light and a Blackhawk 1 point sling. I ended up buying a one point sling adaptor off amazon.com which I'll put on my airsoft M4. It was by unscrewing the stock on the airsoft M4 that I began to realize how flimsy it is. Happily I will be able to use all of these items on my real rifles after Camp Skeletor, although I'll need to get a one point sling adaptor for my AK 47.Last edited by Wounded Ronin; 7/21/2011 7:49pm at .

That's the problem right there mate, although these companies advertise their systems as "metal" they are in fact (for the vast majority) casts, thus very easily damaged.
There is a company on your side of the pond which will make a fully billet M4 upper and lower for airsoft however the cost is prohibitive when you consider it's actually more $$ than a standard real M4 upper/lower - go figure ?
I have seen the Magpul bodies and for the dollar, they look very well made however, the fact remains they are toys. I suppose the good thing for you, as you pointed out, at least the ancils you buy can be used on your real weapons.

Here's a link to G&P who've made the Magpul licenced magazine.

And an example of the PTS/Magpul rifles
