    The pressure cooker is key.
    The vinegar helps too.

I lived in Guam for many years and cockfights are common there and here in Hawaii:

Hawaii to Honor Cockfighting as a "Cultural Activity?"
...Hawaii, is one of the five best states to be an animal abuser. Now some local politicians want to pass a resolution calling the barbaric, illegal act of cockfighting a "cultural activity" and a "long and cherished tradition."

It's not surprising. As I've written before, the Aloha State has little aloha for animals. Cockfighting is technically illegal, but happens all the time. It's not uncommon to see T-shirts and bumper stickers celebrating the grisly bloodsport. And it isn't as if politicians haven't tried to woo the animal abuser vote before. For instance, one state representative, Rida Cabanilla, introduced resolutions in the 2008 legislative session asking the United Nations to “officially commemorate cockfighting as a global sport.”

    And then there was one

Please find a moment to remember Cockburn tragically killed today by the gander

It has been an emotional day for us all and now the wife and I must adapt to life with just one cock
Considered in the abstract the boxing ring is an altar of sorts, one of those legendary spaces where the laws of a nation are suspended: inside the ropes, during an officially regulated three-minute round, a man may be killed by his opponent's hands but he cannot be legally murdered. Boxing inhabits a sacred space predating civilization; or, to use D.H. Lawrence's phrase, before God was love. If it suggests a savage ceremony or a rite of atonement it also suggests the futility of such gestures. For what possible atonement is the fight waged if it must shortly be waged again... and again? The boxing match is the very image, the more terrifying for being so stylized, of mankind's collective aggression; its ongoing historical madness.
    Joyce Carol Oates, On Boxing
