No, no one in the history of the world has ever used karate for self-defense. Quit now, take up MMA, and get some tribal tatoos. Or barbed-wire. Or tribal barbed-wire.
Wearing Jordan's jersey doesn't make you play like Jordan. I could post several videos of people using (almost) any art beating someone up. It's all pretty irrelevant unless you train like they do.Last edited by maofas; 6/11/2011 11:18pm at .

As I mentioned, mate. Read more. Go read all the stickies (the threads that say READ ME) in newbie town and YMAS and in the Style forums. And MABS. Wherever you might feel like posting. Read previous threads and get a feel for the forums, there are plenty on this topic or similar that will give you an idea.

When people who do Karate are successful in defending themselves, it isn't that Karate works.
It just seems that way.
The defender only appears to have weathered an attack.
The assailants only pretend to be hurt enough that the attack stops--or does it just seem to stop?
So......no, Karate doesn't work. -
