MMA pretender litmus test - how to spot a poser without sparring him?

This has rarely come up for me, but I can think of a couple of occasions. In the first instance I was as sober as a priest. And like some people here, I just stayed silent. I always figured that if I didn't have something nice to say, I wouldn't say anything at all. And when I smell bullshit I'm generally not thinking of telling the guy how much he impresses me with his stories.

The other time I was drunk and somehow got caught up in a conversation and the gentlemen in questions was telling me how 'his friend' could stop an armbar easy, by pinching the achilles ... and I said "why wouldn't you just break his arm at that point!?". I had only been training for a few months at that point too. Still baffles me.

You can pretty much tell how they walk. Seriously. I know I sound like a complete dolt but I believe it to be true. Actually, I am a complete dolt, but I stand by it. Anyone ever read that book "blink"? By Malcolm Gladwell?
