Listen to the people at your dojo who have all seen the same doctor. Best people to listen to.
How bout a doctor that is familiar with sports injuries. "Most" primary care MDs will just give you a brace and some pills.
Sorry, it's just that my experience has shown me that most GP MDs dont know squat about actual injuries.

Yeah, go team vicodin until I see the sports medicine orthopedist.
General care physicians are good when you have the flu, or need sleeping medications that make you e-mail inappropriate things to the head of your dojo's organization that may include questionable photography, or when you need to get a referral to a doctor who can help you with your problem.
You know, so I've heard.

Bummer! Well speedy recovery, hope it isn't too serious. If you have access to an arm ergometer, you can still get some cardio without straining your knee. I had to use after I severely tore my back (the first time).

I wonder if there's a version of stick fighting that involves crutches?
I may have found my calling.

No thanks, I'll just stick to getting punched in the face by the police.

Hows the Injury?

I can bend my knee a lot more now. If I completely straighten it, Bad Things Happen. Also have to be really careful about twisting it. I get around okay on crutches but the pain catches up to me fairly quickly. I think it's getting a bit better, but there's clearly something wrong. The 20th seems terribly far away, heh!
People treat me a lot differently with crutches. It's a clear cue that I have some injury or something, one that they can accept... they're a lot nicer, and a lot more patronizing.
I think it's the meniscus.

Stay strong, I just found out today that I may have torn my ACL and/or MCL in my left knee. Also partially torn lower hamstring tendon. Good news? I'm out of the immobilizing brace, and off the crutches, I'm now in a stabilizing brace and can walk for a few min at a time. Mobic and percocet... yay!!

yay! I hope they can fix all that?
