    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    How to hit right?

I am working on my punching alot lately as well as kicks. My trainers are telling me i am not putting my hips and shoulders into my punches enough. Anyone know of some good exercises to loosen your hips and train your body to rotate with punches? I read about Jack Dempsey's method with standing and swinging side to side called the "tornado". I am using mostly upper body which I get good power from but need to get all of it with legs, hips, shoulders. HELP!

Start with your hands at your sides, and your legs about shoulder width apart.
Imagine that you are the inside of a washing machine.

Twist clockwise and anticlockwise, with your arms loose like ropes attached to your trunk. The more you can uninvolve your arms, the looser your shoulders can be, and thus, you can start to feel comfortable generating that power in your hips.

I always explain it as deadly spaghetti arms.
