Reluctantly, I've come to the conclusion that just about any movie on the SciFi Network (now it's SyFy... WTF kind of dumb **** is that huh?) is worth giving at least 15-20 minutes of time to. You never know. I can't tell you the number of B movies I've seen on that network that were good for killing a couple hours. Double worth it if you have a little nerdness leftover in you.

Actually, I had the title wrong. It was the 1977 Jaws rip-off Tentacles.

If you watch the whole movie (and you should, it's high quality ninja cheese, but Sho Kosugi is in it), you'll eventually find out that the golf course yuppie was some kind of government official and that explains all the easy targets (i.e. body guards). You never find out why the ninja attacked them but it's safe to assume it was a political assassination.

If you use your ninja sense it's easy to see that golf courses are the perfect place to ambush VIPs:

    - Lots of forest...easy to intrude
    - Open (no walls, no security towers, no fences)
    - Lots of forest...easy to escape

And of course this ninja wears the right colors (greys, greens, tans) to blend in with the trees.

And of course he's mastered the art of spirit transfer (like Chucky!), thus enabling him to take his revenge on the police force well after his death.
