Any chance you'd like to do some standup this time? I've been told that before BJJ you trained pretty seriously in the Wushukwan kung fu/kickboxing/tkd hybrid. Last time there were only a few people interested.

Certainly doesn't have to be anything heavy contact.

I'm not suggesting you spar with me particularly, I'm way too heavy and slow for that to be a good match up.

Awesome, I was hoping someone would oblige me. Any news on numbers or date yet?

Numbers are what you see in this thread, with possibly a couple of people from Tai Chi but who don't post here. Venue isn't booked yet. Planned date is still August (def won't be last weekend of August though).

Might it be worth delaying to see if we can trawl the site for more people to join us. So far we seem to have less than 10 going.

You don't need a lot of people, and so far more people have turned up at the other 2 Oxford throwdowns than ever announced themselves in the thread.
It's a couple of months in the future still.

That is true. I imagine my summer holiday psychology made me feel that way. August sounds very close to september, and september is when im back on campus. Oh noes!

Thanks for asking, but no, not really. I've pretty much lost any interest in being punched in the face these days. Or indeed standing up at all. Inveterate guard puller.

Yeah, I did the off-shoot Zhuan Shu Kuan for about seven years, although the last two or three were very infrequent (couple of training posts here, if anyone is interested). Got up to brown belt before I gave up on grading (after that in ZSK, there is brown belt black tag, then black belt). The actual sparring in class was pretty good (regular full contact: I once got knocked out twice, though that was an unusually heavy session), the gradings were a bit pointless until black belt. Lots of forms, and it seemed to be getting increasingly traditional by the time I stopped. Still, one of the better TMA out there, IMO.

I'll bump myself for interests sake. I'm working Saturdays now so I may not make it but that may change.
