Just for the sake of curiosity, why is it called 'naked'? I got into trouble with my friends yesterday as I was looking through this technique on wikipedia...

.....they thought I was watching.....something....quite......inappropriate .

Hadaka probably doesn't mean 'naked' in the exact sense, probably more like 'clothless' etc.. i.e basically it refers to a principle of choking in that you don't rely on a collar or other bit of clothing to choke.

Hadaka (裸) means naked, nude, without clothes, etc. For example, there's a famous type of festival in Japan called "Hadaka Matsuri" -- naked festival. Crudely, it's like a giant Japanese toga party/religious festival. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadaka_Matsuri

In this sense it means without (using) clothes.
