Transitional positions like taking the back, half guard and the seat belt grip - shown in the picture you identified - don't score ippon and so don't have formal names. There are informal names for example the guard is called 'do osae' in Japan, but normally in English speaking countries its refered to as 'in between the legs' etc... So your coach may have an informal name for it in either English or Japanese, but it won't have a formal name.
why isn't it called a submission though? I got caught in one of these during randori and it was pretty much "tap or get choked out"

My guess: Either you are a very, very delicate flower; or you were rolling with someone 100 lbs heavier than you; or it wasn’t really what was in picture #2 after all. (I’m guessing it’s the third option.) The picture does not depict a choke at all, though it’s a good position to set up both rear naked chokes and various lapel chokes.

BJJ might make you a better ground fighter, but Judo will make you a better dancer.

Thats what I thought when I first saw them too.

No offense, but most of the guys I grapple with seem to be short on hair or have very short hair (buzz cut)

Just for the sake of curiosity, why is it called 'naked'? I got into trouble with my friends yesterday as I was looking through this technique on wikipedia...

    .....they thought I was watching.....something....quite......inappropriate .

Presumably, because unlike collar chokes, naked chokes do not make use of clothing and can be performed regardless of what the opponent is wearing. (Unless they are wearing a helmet or gorget…)

I'm trying to stop making low content posts on purpose, so I'll stop here.
