So, I've no background knowledge of this ruleset. It appears that punches aren't allowed, kicks are allowed if they strike above the waist, but the emphasis is on take downs which are also performed to the upper body (i.e. no double leg shoots etc). Am I pretty close?
Whether it actually translates to being a well rounded martial art is questionable, but the comps look like a lot of fun. -

pretty close,
A win is awarded when you land a kick to the head OR throw your opponent down
In TKB kicks to the midsection is NOT allawed (I don't know why, one of the stupidest rules in TKB), maybe because Kyullyun puts alot of emphasis on low kicks.
Is it a well rounded martial art? Definatly NOT. The absence of handstrikes and groundwork is painful. I had my ass kicked on my first MMA sparring sessions. But is it valid? I think so. After a few lessons, I was able to fight most of the people in the gym quite decently. I had my kicks and standing wrestling from Taekkyon, so I just had to fill in my missing parts (I still suck at boxing and groundwork though). -

So we went from: train harder, to cancer, to Taekkyon, and IIRC comics came up (as always). What's next?
I did a kickfest at Mean in teh bean V, with Strikestanian, it was embarrassing...but I had an injured thumb, so it was that, or nothing as fun. I post for shame
Spoiler:
The worst bit was, Marvin Perry, who is, by any measure a great kickboxer, looking on in the background. He probably had to scrub the suckage of the mat, after I left. -
