Great Chinese master coming to town

    Guys,

A great master is coming to London town UK in October or November. The story behind him is he travelled China for three years giving and accpeting challange matches in the old style and remained undefeated. He currentl resides in Japan where he has continued his training although doesnt compete anymore. I think that he is one of the most complete martial artists that I have ever met. He practices and teaches the internal martial arts of Hsing-I chuan and Ba Gua, but also has his own family martial art. Come and check him out when he comes

I can't actually see the video because my work laptop is lame, but I'm going to take a guess and assume that it doesn't contain actual footage of one of these challenge matches.

You are, of course, correct. It's footage of him performing a Ba Gua set.

    Omg, you're serious?

Let me point out that traveling around rural China and beating up villagers is about the dumbest proof you could ever concoct for martial efficacy. The rural areas of china are notoriously poor and under developed. The normal health and strength of a well fed foreigner or city dweller in China is so far above the average rural villager that you may as well tour elementary school playgrounds and beat up the "toughest" bully in 6th grade.

I lived in china for three years and yes what you say may be true in a lot of cases it is not the rule and to think so is a massive stereotype and simply wrong. Having said you dont need to come and see for yourself. Ignorance is bliss!

The WHO and China's own government disagree with you. They are desperately trying to get the rural healthcare system on its feet. They had an incredibly outdated but workable system in place before they privatized rural farming. Since then there has been a collapse in healthcare that is only recovering in the last 5-10 years. So unless you are discussing the health of children under 10 you're still wrong.

All that is besides the point. Post a video of him fighting any challenge match at all instead of a form and I'll shut up.

    He can't.
The fighting art is so deadly, that anyone who watches the youtube clips of actual sparring footage dies in 7 days.

Go to China and see for yourself. This teacher comes from a village where the average life expectancy is 48 which yes is terrible but his family and families like him don't all follow the trend. His mother for example is 89 years old throwing wood around like it is nothing. His father is 95 and still fit and healthy. I travelled in china with my teacher and saw abject poverty and then in the midst of this poverty there are some martial arts families (the ones which were challenged and challenging) who were in better health than even the fittest people I have seen in modernised countries. Your opinion that stated "rural China and beating up villagers" is again totally wrong. Your doubt and skepticism is mistaken, yet I have no way to prove any of this so what to do? I don't have any footage of the challenge matches the only way any one could verify as to whether this is a real master is to come and check him out when he comes. But before you state all chinese are poor and unhealthy you are mistaken. You only need to look at the obesity rates in the US to see that modernised countries dont always mean health

    Obese Adults in America

Nearly one-third of U.S. adults are obese (BMI > 30).

    Levels of Obesity

All adults: 61.3 million (30.5 percent)
    Women: 34.7 million (33.4 percent)
    Men: 26.6 million (27.5 percent)

Less than half of U.S. adults have a healthy weight (BMI > 18.5 to < 25).
