I saw Paiva at the Hilo's Big Island Hawaiian Music Fest last year. She (and Makana at Laupahoehoe Music Fest) and Pahoa Grad Sean Robbins are the hottest young Hawaiian musicians. Though Sean is ha'ole - he's a student of Cyril Pahinui. Pahinui said people ask him, why you teaching that ha'ole and he said that Sean works hard and does what he's asked and that he'd be happy to teach Hawaiian kids, just find him one that will take orders.
Makana At Laupahoehoe he did the Occupy song that he played for Obama and the fat cats at the APEC dinner!
spoken word anti racist from Australia, Luka Lesson - Please Resist Me - I got turned on to Luka 'cause Medicine For The People are touring with Luka and included a video on their fb site.
Rosemary Lane - Espers,
which led me to Bert Jansch - Rosemary Lane
