Hmm. I'll let you know what I think about it on Sunday nite/Monday.

I'm expecting I'll be pretty close to your judgement.

IMO there is nothing special that warrants a look in the theater. The Star Trek Reboot had scenes that had to be seen on the big Screen. Pirates 1 & 3 had some big screen moments.

Saw it at the drive in on the weekend and have to agree with everyone else.

*JD's character should have either been cut out from the script or made more important.

*I didn't care about the characters and their family/revenge/cross species love problems. I may have cared if they'd spent the time needed to develop these characters. Cutting out the mermaid love angle and actually showing Barborossa? lozing his leg would have helped.

When he started talking about it and the music started I was like "here we go." Then of course, nothing.

    Lol.

    I liked this film better than 2 + 3.

    For me it's 1, 4 then a far distant 3 and I don't think I'll ever watch 2 again.

I actually liked this one a lot, I like that it was a little more stand alone and not desperately flailing for these big arcs

    I really liked blackbeard

I would say the missionary was pointless and could have been left out, and barbosa either left out of have him simply work for the spanish faction or something - the whole extra ship and set of goons that having a 3 team race brought the pace down if you ask me.

I saw it at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood with a live organist dressed as a pirate and all the actual movie props around.

It might have colored my experience.

They also gave me a bag of pieces of eight :P
