I had many years of Aikido experience too, before I started BJJ.
I found that VERY FEW skills learned in Aikido were directly transferable to BJJ. Some skills are, like breakfalling (universally useful) but most skills are not.
That being said, I think you're going to enjoy BJJ, and within the first 3 months of training, you're probably going to start to feel that you're doing the most valuable training in your life.
That's a great feeling. -

I did BBT for many years before taking up BJJ, I know its a different style but we did plenty of similar locks to Aikido and the training was also compliant. I left my first BJJ class feeling man-raped and depressed for wasting so many years doing what I thought was effective.
I've pulled off a couple of things I learned from the Bujinkan like a particular collar choke or throw from stand up but that's only after a year of trying during full on rolling/sparing. I pulled off an omote gyaku once but that was only because I was presented with a gift opportunity - no joy using it for a submission though. Just forget what you've learned and use the tried and tested BJJ techniques, you'll see exactly why they work soon enough;) -

Remember to look the sensei in the eye. Don't blink or it might be seen as disrespectful.
Loud and authorative "Hai!" at the end of their every sentence. This means you acknowledge them. It's not a rule, but it will impress them.
If someone holds their hand out to you at the start of rolling, they're trying to see what you can do, sort of a mini test. Use it to pull them over. Kote Gaeshi sorta thing.
