I took my 11 year old cousin to see it. She now freezes up mid conversation, then suddenly unfreezes and says "I did it again, didn't I?"

Kids are so impressionable...I had to take away my 3 year old's plastic dinner plates and frisbee because he was attacking my 7 year old with them. When I asked him why he just tells me he "fights for the Users". My wife is not as impressed as I am.

This may be a bit nit picky, and I may be wrong, but in the movie version, Depp's character was called "Raoul Duke", not "Hunter S. Thompson" for some reason or other, wasn't he?

Raoul Duke is the pen name Thompson used to write the book, which is an autobiography of Hunter S. Thompson written from the perspective of the character, also based on Thompson.

Duke was Thompson's avatar, if you will.

And now that I think about it, Depp made Rango's personality very similar to Thompson's/Duke's: neurotic but entertaining.

I always wondered how Waterworld was so expensive. I feel like I could've made most of the movie with a few hundred to buy crappy clothes at thrift stores and get hipsters to modify them, a few grand on crappy old boats and jetskis, and the rest for the crew and actors (how expensive is Kevin Cosner, really?), and use clever filming to use the Palo Alto as the Smoker's boat/lair:
