This KO is bringing all the deluded TMAers and Aikido nuthuggers out of the woodwork. Even on MMA-only sites. It's awful.

If even one TMA'er gets the point that he needs competancy in grappling and some form low-kick striking before he can make his TMA work, all that white noise will be worth it.

I loved it. The crane kick, not Seagal at all, was funny. I think Machida is a great fighter that uses unorthdox karate stances and strikes to fight. He also uses Muay Thai as well. The aiki-bunnies and Krotty nutriders, who do not train anywhere near his level, will always come out and say LOL I do that when they really don't.

Believing you can do what you see on the screen is the essence of the typical American martial artist. The amazing thing about Machida's KO is that he acually did it, and with the most iconic technique in all of MA film. I hope the UFC gets someone named "Ohara' in there quick so Lyoto can show us his side kick.

The need for crosstraining to impose one's MA in an open-ruleset situation is obvious.

The other thing nutriders need to remember is the amount of time one needs to train some MAs before they have a hope of becoming effective. That's in addition to the crosstraining, not instead of it.

Machida trains and crosstrains fulltime at upper-pro level, but also has been doing shotokan since age four and competing under a number of rulesets for most of his life. Unless the nutriders are living similar lives, they're better off shutting the **** up.

See, I hate any analogy that involves school and Martial Arts. I have yet to see one that hasn't been abused or completely and utterly screwed up.

So rooting for, praising or criticizing a professional athlete is reserved only for those that train and compete at that level? If thats the case forums like these would be empty.

It also does not imply that because it was on TV that I could do it.

To root for, criticize or praise Derek Jeter does not mean I think I can do what he does, train or compete at his level.....just sayin'
