This was an impromptu request that we made a few months ago.

    Thoughts?

Very helpful. Any chance of exploring ashiwaza techniques in a future video?

Theres a pair of ways to do the one armed shoulder throw I have luck with. The first just looks like a cross between a Japanese wizzer and hip toss, the other is to turn it into a drop throw... I'll see if I cant find a way to make a vid or post pics.

I've never been that great with Ashi Waza so I never converted them for no gi. Coach Josh has a few good ones.

Osoto gari/otoshi, harai and even tai otoshi are virtually the same in that position.

How do you follow up from the makkikomi? Try to reach back and control his head for kesa, go the other way for reverse-scarf/twister side control or something else entirely?

I use a version of this when I do that throw.

    Thanks for the compliment Omega.

That was more of a harai than an osoto. Except for the nomenclature it was great.

The follow up to the makikomi can be several things my personal preference is ushiro kesa since it is my favorite position when I am on top.
Judo is only gentle for the guy on top.

I would tend to agree but it was taught to me originally by Tony Raven who was a Sachi Dan at the time, so I've stuck with that since then.
