Work holds me back. So I either don't train, or turn up a bit later :(.

I still feel bad turning up late and apologise each time. Warm ups are great, for warming up, heh. Better to avoid injuries!

Conditioning I do agree with! But I feel that people that don't like Hardwork, don't last in BJJ. They quit like the spazzy noobs, or the TapouT posers that just want to say "I did BJJ, yeah, like, UFC!" etc. So I feel the good people, which are there for the right reasons, help each other out.

Also, I'd say, for a point, the video is probably a bit long to stay engaging. I'd say smaller snippets for more succinct engaging video delivery :D.

the video is especially too long for people too lazy to go to warmups which is its entire target audience.

Or my favorite the guy who lifts weights during the technique portion of class then wants to roll.

I rather liked that vid. I can say that even though I had usually done either a Weights or Circuit class the day before Trad JJ training, my sensei did a very hard Warm-Up and I always did it.

Sadly, I can recall a couple of Black Belts who always turned up late and/or never did the Warm Up but I was sweating my Bollocks off and I was OLDER than them!

Not a good example and they got to do more Technique practise than me, cos I usually was given someone I had to help or to act as Uke for as they practised Back Syllabus in preparation for Dan Grading....I was not allowed to Thrown.

So, yeah, I prefer everyone to Warm-Up as a rule. At least then they shouldn't gas out...but in the past, that's exactly what I have seen happen.

When i see guys who just show up for open-mat or just after all the conditioning i admit a small part of me goes,
"Well ****, he's gonna be all fresh for rolling. Maybe if i just came in..."
..and thus lies the path to the dark side.
I always do the warmup but thanks for the affirmation.

A part of me (The lazy part) thinks of just turning up a little late to class so that I can skip the warmup and be fresh for the techniques and rolling.

But the other part of me remembers that I first got into Jiu Jitsu because I wanted a fun way to get fit and if I always skip the hard part its always going to be the hard part.

Psh, wussies. I show up an hour early, if no one else shows up early I do conditioning and drills, if someone does show up we roll or drill together for an hour. Then I do the warmups and the regular class, then generally grab someone to roll for an extra 15 minutes afterwards. Anyone skipping the warmup gets ridicule. RIDICULE I SAY!

My belief is that my instructor has the class setup the way it should be done, therefore I regard each part of the class just as important. To miss any of the class would be cheating myself out of the potential value of the session.

    Missing warmups is a no.
