All i will say about these videos, and all tma jointlock videos, is i HATE the smug look the instructor gets on their face as they demo it, like "yea i'm so cool", smug bastards

You'll notice how his wacky gatammy is subsantially different in setup and execution from a traditional "grab his arm when he punches you" kinda armlock, and also relies heavily on the glove for grip.

And keep in mind, this is still a technique which has been effectively used once, by one guy, who has also won two fights via gogo-fuckin'-plata.

Here's an example of it being applied semi-effectively, Saito vs Cho at the 1985 Judo world championships. I think it's important to notice that even though it was applied well enough to cause a serious injury it didn't stop Cho from trying to continue and the referee had to stop the match.
