    Hell yeah! Hell no!
As much as I joked about the class afterwards, I was pretty serious during it. I came home, whipped out a notebook, and began to record the things I would need to work on. Hand position. Proper hip thrusting. Reaching across the body for knees (is anyone else taught this?). Going up on the balls of my feet during knees and kicks. It's a lot to process, but I decided before I even started that I would focus on proper technique even at the sake of power early on.

It's looking like I may go to class either tomorrow or Monday, so there will surely be more fun-filled adventures to come.

Good read remind me of when I took Muay Thai (more fitness oriented class).

In my short time there I managed to do a few stupid things
1)Backhanded myself in the face twice because while holding pads for kicks
2)Got my heel stuck on top of the belly pad while practicing teeps and fell straight onto my behind

I genuinely laughed out loud uncontrollably at the teeped penis!

We're thought to "steer the bus" when kneeing. One hand pivots down (left hand with left knee) the other pivots over to protect your face when delivering the knee, like handling a large bus steering wheel.

    But I suck..

Teeped penis hahahaha, I kneed a friend in the testicles last night...

I did that too when I was learning to teep. Now you know the version of a teep that will work on teh str33tz.

Btw, over the course of my trip, I pay ten dollars in tolls to the state of New Jersey.
I'm sure your exaggerating, but this sounds like it could be very expensive if you decide to join.

Oh, when I did muay thai up to last year, people from TKD didn't kick too well either. I don't doubt they can do some kicks better, but they don't seem to be used to doing their round kicks very hard.

Actually, I was only off by around a dollar. A dollar ten at my first exit, a dollar at the parkway, then six ninety at my exit coming home.

This has the potential to hold everyone over until the next MrBadGuy entry. I like it.

Also, invest in a cup, because you can expect to get kneed in the junk a few times when you're learning. Until you start sparring with clinching. Then, expect to get kneed in the junk a LOT.

Not on topic, but Warwick Castle RULES. I went there on a fieldtrip as a kid...before we moved to Amurka. Oh, and congrats for getting a MT guy, for your MT class.

Why would you remind us of MBG unless he posted another entry? You have crushed me.

Congratulations Kickapoo, Muay Thai is a blast!

    My best advice is:
    - with a Boxing background, adapt your bobbing and weaving or you are going to eat a lot of knees
    - Invest in a steel MT cup! I had two plastic cups broken by my sparrings partner (one with teep, other with knee).

    Have fun!

Good story. I look forward to reading more.

If you mean, for example, reaching across with your right hand to grab the opponent's neck from his right side as you're throwing a right knee, yes. If you grab him from the other side (the one closer to your right hand) many things can happen, but few are good.
