Thank you for all of your post, I'll let my local doctor make the final decisions. I think it would be really great if I can do full contact sparring without worrying about permanent head injuries.

Some people here does judo and BJJ only. And I don't think short term memory would effect much the quality of their information(whether it's right or wrong) if someone is typing slow and taking their time to think.

Btw, Omega I'm sorry for getting on your bad side and making you a little text aggressive. BUT I LOVE BEING A *****. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I love school, friends, my life is great. And being a sensitive little ***** makes me aware of things most people aren't, makes for a great scientist. Oh yea I don't want to be a psychologist, I'm planning on being a system scientist so I'm taking all the sciences. Also, girls love sensitive side of guys, and they probably love sensitive guys that make a lot of money, and good at childcare.

I think everyone should consider becoming a *****. I see much more benefits in the sensitive "*****" than the aggressive "tough guy".

And brain trauma doesn't occur (unless your catching punches to the head all the time)

From your post i get you want to be active and get the most out of things like sports and school.
but in order to get the most out of martial art you need to commit to it,
    not some half-asses attemt.

My advice join the soccer team or something its healty and you will not hurt your head when training to your fullest.(maybe your shins)

And by soccer i do not mean to be a dick,i'm from the netherlands and its a pretty big thing here.
Lol, thank you. But if it turns out that what I'm worried about is true. I'll probably go into judo or BJJ.

You're not going to get brain damage unless you're doing hard contact for years and years, i.e., a pro boxer who didn't know when to hang it up. Sparring isn't going to do that unless your gym is full of assholes.

Getting banged up goes with the territory. To quote an assistant coach I once had- "It's martial arts, guys. If you can't handle things getting a little rough a little every now and then, the chess club is down the street."

I don't think you should do that. I think you should do your own research. Your local Doctor may be a great Doctor but he also may not know anything about head injuries in sports. If you are in college you should consider talking to the Physical Trainers that work with your schools Football, Hockey, or Lacrosse teams as those are the people that know A LOT about head injuries in contact sports and also will have a lot of first-hand experience with them. You should also use the Google and read some of the many studies about head injuries in contact sports that are available on the web.

Look, I don't drink or smoke either really, and I consider myself a sensitive dude and a poet. But I do these things generally because they are who I am and I enjoy them, not so I can be a smug douche about how my sensitivity makes me see things others do not. I don't have the desire to become a hollow shell of a "man" who stands on being a *****. Combat and toughness are virtuous endeavors (expressions of courage in particular) and I can still be sensitive and loving to my girlfriend while being willing to take full contact hits and give them and be willing to step up and fight/train hard. Stop using sentimentality as an excuse for cowardice or go take up checkers.

Also, as stated earlier, you would only get brain damage from sparring with prolonged full contact head shots which is only likely to happen if the guys in your gym are dicks.

Furthermore, playing the your undergraduate psych education card and playing internet sociologist by calling Omega out on his "conformity" is stupid. First year philosophy taught me about virtue ethics and how people who lacked courage were often full of excuses to support this fact and philosophy of science taught me that anyone who makes sociological judgments without competent ethnography skills or plays the "Ha, you're just conformist sheeple like I learned in PSY 101" card is chief conductor on the stupid train.

Finally, good luck with reveling in being a future Tai chi/ninjer master and you should probably listen to Omega and man the **** up rather than playing this false dichotomy "nice guy" bullshit as if training for fighting by actually, you know, fighting will instantly make one a brutish neanderthal. Some girl may fall for that ***** nonsense, but she will probably rue that decision when the drunk in the alley sexually harasses her then beats your ass because you couldn't use your sensitivity to get him to stop and you couldn't fight either.

Ah I must've missed this part:
Thank you for all of your post, I'll let my local doctor make the final decisions. I think it would be really great if I can do full contact sparring without worrying about permanent head injuries.
Spoken like a true idiotic sheep:
    1. My student came up said she suffered from shin splints. I told her what to do. She asked me how was that going to heal her bone. When I asked her to clarify she informed me that her doctor told her that a shin splint was a fracturing of the shin bone....

    2. Student came up to me told me that he had to quit because his doctor told him MMA was to hard on his back and knees. With a quick examination I told him he needs to build his core muscle and stretch his hips and thighs. He said he'd go with the doctors opinion. I told him to go see a sports specialist. The next week he started his core training with me.

    3. After weeks of insinuation on my lack of possible IQ points a doctor I knew was surprised I knew how to play chess. She considered herself quite good in chess and she pulled out her board and asked me not to be intimidated. Know what the term Scholar's mate means in chess? (Misnamed fools mate by some)

Please kid, I know you believe yourself intelligent but you're obviously a social moron. Keep your head in the books and leave the serious business to the grown ups.
