Capoeira gets your ass in the best shape of your life, teaches you how to kick and do some standing takedowns, and gets you laid by the hottest women you've ever seen. Also, it has more proven cage deadly than the mainstream chun, aikido, and mainstream krav put together (though it's easier to go higher than 0.)

Because it was started by someone who proposes ranking martial arts like it's a Super Smash Bros. tourney. But seriously, my dance moves could beat the holy hell out of camo pant wearing larpers who do teh deadly krav. There's good krav, but the guys who go out and spar and train BJJ and Muay Thai are the ones who make it work beyond any theoretical level.

    I reject your basic proposition.

The pokemon angle is amusing, though.

Judo is definitely OU. Why, just yesterday we were at least 9 guys who showed up for training. As far as effectiveness goes, judo should be somewhere around taijutsu's level methinks. Taijutsu does have better breakfalling and more realisticly applicable submissions though (example: lol@ gi chokes. Who wears clothing on the streetz anyways).

    Assumption/condition for this list:
-condition: tier(rank) based on effectiveness of preparing one for a weaponless self defense situation
-assumption: MMA sparring currently gives the more realistic combat emulation, and so the titles will refer to combat in a MMA matches.
note: I'm not saying the assumption is correct. It's just there to take out arguments that just seem to take up space and not reach conclusions everyone can agree on.

    example:
OU(over used): MT, BJJ, Wrestling, kickboxing
BL(boarder line): karate, wing chun, judo, boxing
    UU(under used): TKD
    NU(never used): capoeira
-this is a very rough list and just for the use of showing an example, I do not have reasons to back it up
-I used terms from Pokemon (http://pokemon.neoseeker.com/wiki/Tier_listings)
So you want to classify martial arts in the same manner as a fictional show classifies it's fictional combatants?

It is my opinion that your premise is flawed.

Someone close this thread now please. I can hear millions of voices of decent fighters/martial artists cry out in anguish. Just end this bad joke.

Sorry I didn't make this part clear. I think it's useful because a single/combined list can instantly show that individual/group's thoughts on which styles are most useful.(mostly in MMA in this case) This can save a lot of time for questions of "which is better?/which do you think is better?" from newcomers(like my self).

I'm sorry a lot of you don't like this idea. But to make things a little more clear.
-the Pokemon part is just a method for labeling (bad, decent, good), like I said you can use your own labels. The main focus is not Pokemon.
-I know my example list isn't a good one. And, I'm not going to back it up because I don't have much confidence in it. Don't get caught up on the example, it is just a template.
